Public First Aid is happy to offer a new style of learning to our clients. Through our online campus we offer a variety of online courses. These courses are open to the public and businesses, and are also used to train our volunteers and staff in health and safety programs such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Our online courses can be completed at your pace in the comfort of your own home, making them a convenient alternative to an in-class course. Please see the list of available courses below.

COURSE OUTLINES
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) -- $40.00
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a hazard communication system designed to ensure workers using hazardous materials, also known as controlled products, have the necessary information to safely handle, store and dispose of these materials. All workers that work with, or in close proximity to, a hazardous material must have WHMIS training.
This course meets the legislated worker training requirements for all federal workplaces and for provincial workplaces in all provinces and territories.
This course is presented in 6 modules:
- Intro to WHMIS
- Product Labels
- Hazard Symbols
- Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- WHMIS Education - Responsibilities and Roles
- Exemptions and Restricted Applications.
At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants must successfully complete the test before continuing to the next module. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to advance and complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique.
This online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at anytime and can resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter. On average, the timeline for completion will be 3 - 6 hours.
Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
WHMIS Refresher -- $20.00
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Refresheris a hazard communication system designed to ensure workers using hazardous materials, also known as controlled products, have the necessary information to safely handle, store and dispose of these materials. WHMIS Refresher is designed to refresh the knowledge of workers that have taken WHMIS training in the past and already have a solid understanding of the course material.

Fire Safety -- $25.00
Fire Safety teaches participants the principles of fire prevention and fire safety and identifies appropriate responses in workplace situations involving fire. This course is designed for all employers and workers.
This course is presented in 4 modules:
- Introduction - Basic Workplace Fire Safety Awareness
- Fire Safety and Prevention
- Fire Extinguishers
- Using the Fire Extinguisher
At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants must successfully complete the test before continuing to the next module. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to advance and complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique.
This online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at anytime and can resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter. On average, the timeline for completion will be 2 - 4 hours.

Lockout/Tagout -- $25.00
The term "lockout/tagout" refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard workers from the unexpected energizing or start-up of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. Lockout/Tagout explains the importance of lockout/tagout in protecting the health and safety of workers. Employers should train ALL workers in the basic concepts of hazardous energy control, including energy isolation, locking and tagging of control devices, verifying deenergization, and clearing danger points before re-energizing equipment.
This course is presented in 4 modules:
- Introduction
- Injury Prevention
- Equipment Shutdown and Isolation
- The Procedure of Lockout - Tagout
At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants must successfully complete the test before continuing to the next module. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to advance and complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique.
This online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at anytime and can resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter. On average, the timeline for completion will be 1.5 - 3 hours.
Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) -- $40.00
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) introduces participants to the TDG Act and regulations and explains the requirements for receiving, handling, transporting and shipping dangerous goods, as well as the appropriate response in emergency situations such as spills or accidents. TDG regulations require that, with few exceptions, all persons engaged in the handling, offering for transport or transporting of dangerous goods be trained in the aspects of handling such goods.
This course is presented in 9 modules:

2. Regulations and Training
3. Classification of Dangerous Goods
4. Safety Marks Used in Conjunction
with Dangerous Goods
5. Means of Containment
6. Documentation
7. Forbidden Goods, Exemptions and Special Provisions
8. Exemptions
9. Immediate Reporting and ERAPs
